Location & Directions

The Royal Ship Hotel is situated in North Wales, Gwynedd and is part of the Snowdonia National Park.

In easy reach by car within 2 to 2.5 hours from three international Airports or approximately 1 to 1.5 hours from any direction in England.
Via the M6 and M54 coming from the south or the M6 and M56 coming from the north, travelling from South of Wales following the A470 direction north.
Once arriving in Dolgellau just follow the one way system and find
The Royal Ship Hotel at the bottom of the Town Square.

From John Lennon Airport Liverpool:
Join the A561 direction Runcorn, take the A557 and join the M56 at junction 12.

From Manchester Airport:
Join the M56 direction Chester and North Wales.

From both Airports or travelling from North of England via the M6:
Travel direction Chester, following the sings for North Wales, join the A5117 direction Queensferry. Take the A494 via Mold, Ruthin, Bala to Dolgellau.

Alternatively:
Join the M53 at junction 15 direction Chester and Wrexham via the A55 and A483 leave at junction 4a and follow the A525 direction Ruthin until you hit the A5104. Travel direction Corwen and follow the A494 via Bala to Dolgellau.

From Birmingham International Airport and the South of England via the M6:
On the M6 take you journey direction north, and join the M54 at junction 10A direction Telford and North Wales.
(To avoid heavy traffic and to save some time, approx. 30 minutes, for a very
worth-wile fee, you can take the M6 Toll and follow signs for the M54).
Eventually merging with the A5 direction Shrewsbury travel until you turn left into the A458 direction Welshpool. Stay on the A458 and follow the signs for the A470 and Dolgellau.
Alternatively stay on the A5 at Shrewsbury and follow the signs for Oswestry, Llangollen, Corwen until you join the A494 via Bala to Dolgellau.

Travel by Rail and Bus:
coming from the North you are most likely to travel via Chester. Once arrived at Chester City Road Railway Station take the Bus ARRIVA X94 which provides you with a direct connection to Dolgellau, High Street, Eldon Square.
The journey takes approx. 2.5 hours.

Coming from the South you will travel via Birmingham. Make your way to Birmingham New Street, from there you can board a Train of ARRIVA Trains Wales direction Machynlleth. Once in Machynlleth you need to take the Bus No.X32 of ARRIVA Cymrw to Dolgellau. The journey takes approx. 4 hours.

When you arrive in Dolgellau by Bus you can see The Royal Ship Hotel at the bottom of the Square.
